Bollywood Director Ram Gopal
Verma – Sensation is The Name of the Game!
Ram Gopal Verma, born April
7,1962 in Andhra Pradesh, is a film director known for his sensational movies (
horror and gangster films).
An engineering college drop out in Vijaywada/video shop owner, developed an
infatuation for Indian and American movies (action and horror especially) in
college days. While watching movies in the theater with his uncle, when he
should have been in the classroom, Ram escalated and confirmed his wish of
seeing his name as the director and producer of such movies.
Ram’s dream of being a film director and producer came close to becoming true
when Ram had an opportunity to assist directors of Raogarillu and Collectorgari
Abbai movies in the Hydrabad film industry. His dream came true when he directed
Shiva, a landmark Telugu movie starring Nagarjuna. An unknown, unestablished
director, Ram Gopal Verma, had to convince (with the help of his script and
theme).Nagarjuna, the top Telugu actor to act in his film Shiva. Nagarjuna
agreed and so did good luck with Ram. Shiva was so successful in Telugu that it
was later made in Hindi.
Ram’s career of directing Bollywood sensational movies started with Rangeela,
starring Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar. Rangeela, a very different and
stirringly sensational film, created a buzz in the film world. The movie was
extremely successful making actress Urmila Matondkar, music director A.R. Rehman
and off course the director of the film Ram Gopal Verma big names in the Mumbai
film world. Among many out of the box movies such as Daud, Shool, Mast, Road,
Bhoot, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega, Darna Mana Hai, Darna
Zaroori Hai, stand some of his memorable films; Shiva, Rangeela, Satya, Company,
and Sarkar.
Dierctor Ram Gopal Verma after directing many Telugu movies, now runs his own
Telugu film production company, Varma Corporation Limited. He has produced
Telugu films such as Money, Money Money, Gulabi, Wife of Mr. Vara Prasad,
Anaganaga oka roju, Deyyam.
His Mumbai based production company named “Factory” has also produced quite a
few outstanding movies such as Dil Se, Sarkar, Mast and Company etc. Ram Gopal
Verma is currently busy producing a remake of legendary Hindi movie Sholay which
will feature Amitabh Bachchan as Gabbar Singh.
